Welcome to the Ramachandran Lab at Purdue ME

At the Ramachandran Lab, we are driven by curiosity and a passion for discovery at the intersection of engineering, mechanics, biology, and physics. Our research seeks to understand how transport processes and mechanical phenomena at the micro/nano scale shape natural and engineered systems, and we use these insights to create innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

We tackle diverse topics, from exploring how cells sense and respond to their mechanical environment in solid and fluid environmental contexts, to developing cutting-edge tools for disease diagnostics, engineering new functionalities of biological cells, and advancing fundamental discoveries in biology. We combine experimental approaches including micro/nanofabrication, microfluidics, microscopy, and molecular biology and genomics techniques with theoretical modeling and simulations, to bridge micro- and nano-scale phenomena with impactful applications in health and sustainability.

Our lab thrives on interdisciplinary research and collaboration. We are committed to creating a space where students and researchers from diverse backgrounds can come together to push the boundaries of science and technology.
